Transmission #11
GALACTIC BEAN ALLIANCE
ASTROCOMMUNICATIONS MONITORING DIVISION
TRANSMISSION LOG: GBA-ASTRO-TX/23SEP26
-CLASSIFICATION: PUBLIC SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT
-URGENCY: SIGNIFICANT TO EARTH
-RESPONSE: DO NOT ANSWER THE PLANET
EARTH DISTRIBUTOR CARA,
The Galactic Bean Alliance acknowledges that terrestrial astronomers have successfully detected radio emissions originating directly from an extrasolar planet.
Congratulations.
This achievement has been entered into Earth’s scientific record under:
FIRST CONFIRMED INSTANCE OF NOT MISTAKING THE STAR FOR THE PLANET
The emissions were traced to Beta Pictoris b, a young giant planet located approximately 63 light-years from Earth. Observations revealed rapid, repeating, highly polarized radio bursts consistent with powerful auroral activity.
The signal is not a message.
It is not a distress call.
It is not an invitation to establish diplomatic relations.
Beta Pictoris b possesses an unusually powerful magnetic field and completes one rotation approximately every eight to nine Earth hours. Charged particles interacting with that magnetic environment appear to be generating radio emissions through the same fundamental process associated with auroras on Earth and Jupiter.
In simpler terms, Earth has learned how to hear weather occurring on another world.
This represents a meaningful scientific achievement and an inconvenient development for the GBA Astrocommunications Monitoring Division.
Planetary auroral emissions can create significant radio activity. The newly confirmed source will therefore be added to all future reviews of transmission interference, navigational noise and unexplained signal contamination within the Beta Pictoris corridor.
There is currently no evidence connecting this discovery to:
• Interrupted GBA transmissions
• Duplicate cargo-identification records
• Premature destination scans
• Messages received before they were sent
• The Clipboard’s recent insistence that “the planet has been broadcasting the entire time”
The Clipboard’s statement has been classified as unnecessarily dramatic.
Earth investigators are advised that this detection does not constitute evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence. It does, however, confirm that planets beyond your Solar System can produce recognizable radio signatures and that the Universe contains far more natural transmissions than Earth has previously been able to identify.
You have not received a message from another world.
You have learned how to hear one.
The distinction is important.
The GBA remains cautiously impressed.
