GBA FIELD TRANSMISSION
Subject: Jupiter’s Lunar Disappearance
Earth date: October 6, 2026
Attention, Earthside observers: A lunar interception is scheduled for the predawn hours.
A slender crescent Moon, approximately 20% illuminated, will pass in front of Jupiter, briefly hiding the gas giant from view. This event, known as a lunar occultation, will be visible from parts of eastern North America and southern Canada. Depending on your location, Jupiter may disappear for about an hour before emerging from the Moon’s shadowed edge.
Western sector update: Observers across California and much of the western United States will miss the occultation itself; it will be over before the Moon and Jupiter rise. The pair should still appear strikingly close together after moonrise, weather permitting.
Check local sky conditions before deployment. Timings vary by location.
GBA reminder: A planet apparently vanishing behind the Moon is a predictable alignment—not evidence of an interplanetary abduction. Please record any unexpected observations through your usual field channels.
